Mealglance Privacy Policy

Mealglance is a food journal for adults, published by Kickoff Ventures Pte Ltd. This policy explains what information the app uses, how it is handled, and the choices available to you.

The short version

• Your journal is saved on your iPhone first. When cloud sync is available, it also syncs to your private account.
• A selected meal photo and its notes are sent for analysis only after you agree and tap Analyze. Mealglance does not keep the photo after the analysis flow.
• Mealglance has no ads or tracking, and does not sell your data.
• You can export your journal or delete your account and its data in the app.

Information Mealglance uses

Profile

Your profile can include an optional name, age, body-estimate selection, height, weight, activity level, goal, and calorie and macro references.

Meals and notes

Your journal can include meal and food names, portions and weights, dates and times, nutrition values, notes, and whether an entry came from manual entry or a photo estimate.

Account and service use

Mealglance starts with an anonymous account and random user ID for cloud features. If you link or recover an account with email, Supabase Auth processes your email address. Supabase also stores daily photo-analysis counts and the last scan time to enforce usage limits. These records are associated with your account and are deleted with it.

Support correspondence

If you email hello@mealglance.com, we use your email address and message to respond to your request. Resend delivers verification emails and processes support correspondence for hello@mealglance.com. Resend does not use open or click tracking for these emails.

Information not used

Mealglance does not use your location, contacts, advertising identifier, or payment information. It does not include advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

Photo analysis

Photo analysis is optional. After you accept the consent screen and tap Analyze, the app re-encodes the selected image as a JPEG, removes its original metadata such as location and camera details, and sends the image and any accompanying note through a Mealglance Supabase Edge Function to OpenAI. The photo is limited to 4 MiB. The function does not log or persist the image or note. Mealglance does not retain the photo after the analysis flow.

OpenAI returns an estimate of foods, portions, and nutrition for you to review. Nothing is saved to your journal unless you choose Save meal.

We ask OpenAI not to save the request for later retrieval. OpenAI says API data is not used to train its models by default, but may retain the photo and accompanying notes for up to 30 days to detect abuse. See OpenAI API data controls for provider details.

AI nutrition and portion estimates can be wrong, especially for weights, oils, and sauces. Review and edit them before saving.

Where information is stored

• On your iPhone: the journal is kept in the app's private storage, excluded from device backups. The sign-in session is kept in the iOS Keychain.
• In the cloud: Supabase stores your account, profile, meals, and scan usage. The project is hosted in Singapore. Access controls limit each account to its own journal.
• Service providers: Supabase provides account, database, and server functions. OpenAI provides photo analysis. Resend delivers verification emails and processes support correspondence. They process information to provide these features.

How long information is kept

• Meal photos are not kept by Mealglance after the analysis flow. OpenAI may retain API content for up to 30 days in abuse-monitoring logs.
• Your profile and meal journal remain in your account until you delete an item or delete the account.
• Daily scan counts and the last scan time are kept with your account and deleted with it.
• On-device journal data is cleared when account deletion completes on the device. Pending device cleanup may require reopening the app.

Your choices and requests

• Export: in the You tab, choose Export my journal to create a JSON file containing your profile and meals, then select a destination in the iOS share sheet.
• Delete: delete an individual meal or choose Delete account and cloud journal in You. Account deletion removes your account, profile, meals, and scan counts from the cloud and clears the local journal and saved session after the backend confirms deletion.
• Recovery: link an email from You to recover your account on another device. An anonymous account without a linked email cannot be recovered if you lose the iPhone or remove the app.
• Questions or privacy requests: email hello@mealglance.com. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or correct your personal information. Contact us to make a request.

Health information

Mealglance is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Nutrition values and calorie references are general estimates for adults, not individualized medical guidance. They are not intended for pregnancy, breastfeeding, children, or individual medical needs. Ask your care team about your needs.

Children

Mealglance is for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us so we can address the account and its data.

Changes to this policy

We will post policy changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also notify you in the app.
